SUNY Oswego is SAT/ACT test-optional. Oswego uses a holistic, full-file application review process for both admission and merit-based scholarship consideration. While we will consider scores if submitted, SAT/ACT results are not required.
First-Year
If you’re ready to join our vibrant and welcoming Oswego community, we invite you to apply for the fall or spring semester.
Transfer
If you have registered for at least 12 credit hours at another college following graduation from high school, then you should apply as a transfer student. Credits from regionally accredited colleges transfer easily. If you’d like to know for sure, we'll be glad to evaluate your credits anytime, course by course.
International
SUNY Oswego is home to over 270 international students from more than 35 countries around the world, and the list is growing every year.
EOP: Educational Opportunity Program
This program provides access to higher education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who possess the potential to succeed in college but whose academic preparation in high school may otherwise prevent them from receiving admission.
Nontraditional
Nontraditional students at SUNY Oswego fall into several categories. We serve part-time students, online students, students who return to school after a prolonged absence, students who delayed enrollment into postsecondary education, veteran and military students, and working parents.
Proficiency Exams/Advanced Placement
Our proficiency examination program serves students who seek recognition for achievement acquired outside conventional college classrooms.
State University of New York (SUNY) policy prohibits SUNY Oswego admission applications from inquiring into an applicant’s prior criminal history. After acceptance, the College shall inquire if the student previously has been convicted of a felony if such individual seeks campus housing or participation in clinical or field experiences, internships or study abroad programs. The information required to be disclosed under SUNY policy regarding such felony convictions shall be reviewed by a standing campus committee consistent with the legal standards articulated in New York State Corrections Law.
Students who have previously been convicted of a felony are advised that their prior criminal history may impede their ability to complete the requirements of certain academic programs and/or to meet licensure requirements for certain professions.
