William Price Harned was born September 24, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri to Marjorie
Louise Mertel and William Strother Harned. He passed away at his home in Mountain Home on May 20, 2024.
Price lived in Mountain Home most of his life and practiced law for several years in Arkansas and Missouri. In addition to having grown up in Mountain Home and cherishing lifelong bonds, he valued greatly the deep friendships shared with others in the legal community.
While he loved family and friends in Mountain Home, he also enjoyed traveling and especially finding and following his way on a map-perhaps at the expense of the scenery just outside the car window. An avid golfer, he was a long-time member of Twin Lakes and Big Creek Golf Clubs.
Golf wasn't Price's only spare-time interest. He had a years-long love for water sports-lake, river, or backyard sprinkler for the tykes--and tried to be sure everyone involved enjoyed the outing at least as much as he did.
Consideration of others marked more than his practice of the law. From water and snow skiing with his sons to Christmas scavenger hunts with his daughter, Price was determined to make the most of the experience.
Price was a storyteller who delighted in relating tales (often real) of his and his friends' various adventures. His wit and grit proved to be powerful attributes through his life's experiences.
One of Price's chief earthly delights was ice cream, which he happily shared with anyone tall or small. He particularly loved getting together with friends and family, sharing food, drink, and the inevitable laughter.
A man full of wonder, he marveled at all things air- and windborne. He had an admirable collection of well-used kites and was thrilled to fly in friends' planes. Bubbles and fireworks were great fun for him. He would jump in the car, with blankets, to head to Buffalo City on a frigid January night for a better view of the Quadrantids meteor showers. Ships or boats with sails fascinated him.
For over 5 years, Price was a proud and tough Rock Steady Boxer. That program, developed for people living with Parkinson's, proved immensely beneficial to him. He was devoted to his thrice-weekly workouts and particularly fond of the friends he made through those Mruk Center connections. His boxing and drumming sessions were impressive to coaches and other boxers. Utmost effort was expended, and his wide, happy smile was the result.
Price is an alum of the University of Arkansas School of Law. Prior to his law degree, he attended the U of A and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial Engineering, followed by posts in Tulsa, OK, and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
In addition to his wife Ann Harned, Price is survived by son Jason (Karen) Harned; daughter Madi Harned; sister Linde Harned Freedley (Michael); Ann's children; six grandchildren; former wife Debbie Harned; and many dear family and friends.
A devoted father, Price and his first wife, Beth, were parents to sons William Scott Harned and Jason Price Harned. Daughter Madison Victoria Harned was born to Price and his second wife, Debbie. Price was also a proud bonus dad to Debbie's daughter Lacy, and beginning in 2009, to wife Ann's children: Logan (Shauna) Thomas; Hunter (Rosemary) Thomas; and Sydney Thomas. Beloved grandchildren are Uriah Harned, Adeline Boyd, Fisher Thomas, Ryan Thomas, James Thomas, and Jake Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son Scott Harned; Lacy Spencer and her daughter Hadley; stepfather Mac McCormac; and former wife Beth Ruff Lindsey.
The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to: The Mruk Family Center on Aging or Hospice of the Ozarks.
A celebration of Price's life is planned for 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home.

Dear Ann and family,
I hope you know how dearly I loved Price. Sharing office space as I practiced law with Price was a delight. He always had time to answer questions concerning any issues I might be having with my cases. It was an honor to be friends and a co worker with such a warm, kind, witty man. I got to know Price almost 40 years ago when we lived next door to each other on Tipton Lane. We co-owned an old wooden Chris Craft v8 inboard that was a lot of fun back then. Price was a gentleman and a good friend. Warmest regards to Ann and the family.
