After the U.S. Olympic trials, the U.S. Olympic swimming team will head two training camps before the Paris Olympic games: One within the United States from July 2 to 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and another from July 11 to 22 in Croatia. This is according to a USA Swimming document regarding athlete selection procedure, where no additional information regarding the training camps (such as specific training venues) is provided.

This means that swimmers who make the Olympic team will only have eight days between trials and the first training camp. After the Croatia training camp ends, the team will arrive in Paris on July 23 and attend international training until July 25, which is when competition officially starts.

Full Training Camp Schedule:

  • Raleigh training camp: July 2 to 11
  • Croatia training camp: July 11 to 22
  • International training: July 23 to 25
  • Opening ceremonies: July 26
  • Competition: July 25 to August 3
  • Return home: Various times

USA Swimming last held a training camp in Croatia prior to the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. That camp took place at the Kantrida Swimming Pool Complex in Rijeka, Croatia. Before the 2023 World Championships in f*ckuoka, Japan, swimmers went to training camp in Singapore. The last time USA Swimming held pre-Olympic training camp, it was in Hawaii, before the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

After the 2023 World Championships, there were concerns about how USA Swimming’s training camp affected team performance, as many swimmers added significant time from trials to Worlds. In addition to the fact that Team USA took a red eye flight from Singapore to Japan, but they also only had 22 days between the end of trials to the start of Worlds. This year, they will have 32 days.

The full U.S. Olympic team will be decided on June 23 at the conclusion of trials, and the swimming portion of the 2024 Olympic Games will begin just a little over a month later, spanning from July 25 to August 3.

North Carolina’s Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) has been chosen as the domestic training site for the U.S. Olympic swimming team next summer before the squad heads to Paris in July.

TAC is a 102,000 square-foot facility located on a 21.5-acre campus in Cary, North Carolina.

Cary is NOT Raleigh!

Also, curious where the swimmers will be housed while training, whether some college dorms or hotel.

And meanwhile about an hour north in Greensboro, the Competition Pool at the Greensboro Aquatic Center sits empty, unless hosting a meeting, as they shifted to the adjacent Training Pool (also eight lanes, fifty meters) once it opened in 2019. Currently the Comp Pool is only usedRead more »

Basically in Raleigh, they could be at:
NC State
Pullen
Optimist
TAC (Cary)

Probably State, which is the one not open to the general public of the four.

I would assume TAC, definitely the nicest facility with the most pools.

Yes. Be shocked if it was at NCSU because their facilities are sub par for a top 5ish ncaa program. Though I have to admit I’ve never been to the 50 meter pool.

It’s been confirmed as TAC for some months now – 2 long course pools, one indoor and one outdoor.

It’s TAC – and I’m sure all the Olympians will be super-psyched to spend 9 days at a meh facility next to a big rubble pile (demolished shopping mall) and accompanying parking lot that sit in front of TAC. Croatia will probably be the more memorable part of the camp.

Now we’ll have concerns whether USA Swimming has purchased air conditioners for the athletes rooms in the Olympic village.

Super cool they get to go to Croatia and the Dalmatian Coast again. Same place in Rijeka or another spot?

Rijeka is closer to Istria than Dalmatia, but it’s in Croatia proper. The Dalmatian Coast doesn’t start until Zadar and stretches past Dubrovnik. If they stay in Split though, they’d be in Dalmatia. Bazen Jadran is a 50m pool in Split right on the Adriatic and it’s owned and surrounded by a hotel that was formerly an Olympic training camp for swimming and water polo. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where they stay this time.
