Beast Tamer episode 12 review (2024)

Beast Tamer episode 12 review (1)Hello everyone. How are you all doing? 2 more episode reviews before I finish the entire season 1 of Beast Tamer. Thanks for reading my reviews up until now. As usual, this post will contain spoilers. Let’s roll!

Summary
Beast Tamer episode 12 review (2)The demon that materialized from Edgar’s ring flew to the direction where a huge population is located in order to terrorize. Rein decided to stop the demon alone but his party wanted to help as well. Rein’s party managed to catch up with the demon and began a flurry of attacks to destroy it but the monster was not affected. The demon then summoned his minions in which the ultimate species effortlessly wiped out, but more of the accursed beings just keep appearing. The demon then caused massive destruction to the town by launching multiple energy blasts, but was briefly stopped by the twins giving Rein sufficient time to buff Kanade and Tania to attack the fiend. However, their combined efforts were futile since the demon was not that affected and summoned more minions in retaliation. The twins suggested to teleport the people of Horizon to a safe place using their magic but Rein is hesitant since the fairies’ identity will be exposed.

Beast Tamer episode 12 review (3)However, the twins don’t mind since they want to help the townspeople. Meanwhile, Mina and Aggath wants to help the townspeople about a demon causing destruction but Arios just brushed it off since they need to concentrate more on the demon king and just leave the small fries to the others. The evacuation commenced while Rein, Kanade, and Tania take care of the demon spawns. However, the townspeople were hesitant to enter the teleportation circle due to the bad history between fairies and humans. The ice finally broke when the hot dog vendor entered the circle since she recognized the twins despite them being fairies, which finally convinced the rest of the throng to trust the girls. Meanwhile, the adventurers guild issued a special request in order to support Rein and his party who are handling the disaster with Gantz giving out weapons to the warriors. Nina went to Rein and offered her power of teleportation to defeat the demon. Rein and Nina got close to the demon and took control of the minions that defeated the threat. The townspeople then began mending the damage caused by the previous calamity.

Review
Beast Tamer episode 12 review (4)The climax finally appeared when the demon who acted as the final boss for the series finally revealed itself. He isn’t that overbearing, but still holds an air of superiority that is just right in the middle. And yes, this boss actually has brains and decided to call in reinforcements instead of handling the good guys alone. I also like how heavy and serious the atmosphere in this episode since the entire population of the town is at stake should Rein and his friends fail in this battle.

Beast Tamer episode 12 review (5)The fight scenes are superb with lot’s of melee and ranged magic attacks being launched in a very coordinated manner. I like how the townspeople finally trusted the fairies letting go of the bad blood that had happened centuries ago, and it’s also heartwarming to see the people Rein helped rallied with him by fending off the demon spawns. It just shows that people will return the kindness you have shown them with interest. One plot hole I’ve noticed is the ability of Nina to teleport in any location. If she had that kind of power, wouldn’t she had saved the people Edgar used as hostages prior to their first meeting? Ah, such wasted potential, but I guess Rein would had never saved the day without Nina’s OP power.

Beast Tamer episode 12 review (6)Defeating the demon boss using his own minions against him is quite creative although I’m not fully convinced on how Rein was able to do it the first time. I understand he might have gained the knowledge on how to do that when he fought the behemoth inside the ore mines, but fully mastering it without doing more training, even at least off-screen is just something kind of iffy to me. I guess the boost enabled him to exponentially increase his taming skills to ridiculously absurd levels making him very OP… sort of. One major complaint I have about this episode is the very fast pacing where they just defeated the demon in just one episode. It should have been one and one-half to two episodes long to further emphasize how hard this enemy is but the directors managed to compress everything in the span of 23 minutes. Oh yeah, Aggath and Mina actually had half a brain to go and try to help the townspeople, but unfortunately, they’re all under the thumb of Arios the @$$ and had to go and follow his orders because he is the hero. What a piece of s*** he is.

Beast Tamer episode 12 review (7)In conclusion, I still find this episode great due to the action sequence and choreography and I’m glad everything turned out fine for everyone, although it felt anti-climatic since it ended on a fast note. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
